IPF's work on the Pass won't be finished when the entire Top Cut is stabilized and revegetated. Already we have begun developing a comprehensive plan for reclaiming the Difficult and Tagert Cuts—the "Lower Cuts"—located farther down on the Pass closer to Aspen.
IPF completed a topographic survey of these two unstable cuts in 2003, and that same year the Colorado Department of Transportation undertook core drilling to help determine the subsurface conditions.
In 2005, working with Yeh and Associates, IPF analyzed a number of alternatives aimed at reclaiming the Lower Cuts in an environmentally responsible and cost-effective way.
This future work will be as large in scale and as expensive as the Top Cut. However, IPF will avoid some of the problems caused by the extreme environmental conditions higher up on the Pass. We look forward to the new challenge!
